“YOU COULD BE HERE!”

A Canadian write woman called Jasmine Teed, 32 years old, decided to travel alone because her date didn’t appear.
She was planning to take the man, a pilot, who told her he would be taking her for a spin in a private plane, on a tour of Ireland, Denmark and Iceland. But when she realize that she will travel alone, she took a foam cutout of a faceless man on which she wrote: 'You could be here'.
Ms Tweed posted her first selfie with the cutout from Montreal airport, with the caption: 'You said you would take me flying and then you ghosted me so I'm going to take myself flying. Off to #Ireland, #Denmark and #Iceland!'
She said: 'It's not really about the guy, it's more that if you can't find your perfect travel just make your own and go on the adventures you want to go on anyways.
'I think we all see those perfect couples on Instagram, doing all those amazing things and want that, but there's no need to wait for the perfect travel partner in crime.
'I'd rather just get out there and do them and the right person for me is someone who would be up for doing those things too.'

She is, nowadays, traveling around the world and writing on her blog.

I’ve chosen this one because it surprised me and I thought that it is an example of a good new. The majority of reports are always talking about misfortunes and there is no need to feel saddened about our world. While we are complaining about what is the mess today, there are a lot of funny things happening at the same time. So, I opted to talk about a witty and creativity one.

If you are not lucky in love, why are you going to feel alone all your life? I think it’s wonderful how Teed has turned the problem around. She has preferred not to stay and complain or look for a revenge, she has only found the funny side at all.

I know we must do a summary about the new, so it’s not necessary to put what the interviewee has said, but I’ve found very clever what she said. I agree with what she told us about perfect couple. Sometimes we lose our time waiting for a fairy tale, and maybe it won’t happen. So, don’t spend your time trying to turn your imaginary world to the real one.

OUTDOOR MIND

The last 15th of October 2016 I spent a different weekend with my father. We packed our things and we went to Port de la Selva. There, we met the group of people with whom we shared this great experience. We put all our things into the kayak and we slipped into the water; the adventure had started.
We stopped in different coves, where we had the chance to examine closely every component of the awesome landscape. There were places where you can only access by sea, so there wasn’t any kind of rubbish.
We spent the night in a cave called Cala Tavallera, so we planted our tent camps and we ate a Fideua with fresh fish caught the same morning. We talked a little bit and we went to sleep.
The next day, we took our kayaks again and got back to the water. At midday, we stopped to ClubMediterranée, the place of inspiration of Dali, where a lot of paintings are based on.
Finally, we arrived at Port Lligat and we picked our things up, we put them into a van, and it brought us to Port de la Selva.

I have to say that I was a little bit stress at the beginning because it was a week plenty of exams, so it was a long shot, but I make no apologize with what I had chosen.
It enabled me to disconnect from the frantic world we live in. I met new people, I discovered amazing places, I was in contact with the nature and I realized that the most of the time our busy life not allow us to see the amazing world is behind the artificial world we have built.
I don’t want to say that I’m against cities, in fact, I think I’m a cosmopolitan person and I love going shopping, but maybe we should take some time out to discover further on what we are accustomed to see.
Doing some activities like that, increase your mental and physical health. It’s like press reset button and clean you mind of concerns, problems and stressing situation which only produce into you a discomfort feeling and it generates physical hurts, like muscle contractures.
So, I have no hesitation in recommend it to everyone who loves outdoor activities and also to those people who is just living for work. Work shouldn’t be your spotlight, you should dedicate some time to yourself and it will bring you really good vibes.

Here I leave my video experience:

DECIMATION OF THE DONKEYS: 4 MILLION ANIMALS ARE SLAUGHTERED EVERY YEAR TO MAKE CHINESE “MIRACLE” YOUTH SERUM

There are a lot of donkeys that every week arrive in Dong’e, northen China, an appalling multi-billion-pound industry, from all over the world.
These donkeys are killed because, in their skin, there is a substance called ejiao, which is a supposedly youth-preserving gelatin. The boss of one factory boasted that he sold £140 million of ejiao products last year.
Ten thousand men and women are employed at this factories in Dong’e, where skins are boiled and liquefied to make health snacks, powders and face creams that Chinese people believe are the key to long life and lasting beauty. There is no medical evidence to support this belief.
‘Our only concern is that one day soon there won’t be any more donkeys left to kill,’ he said. Tragically, he wasn’t exaggerating. For centuries seen as symbols of peace and humility, donkeys are being massacred across the world with industrial callousness.

Taking the advantage of what we have been doing in class, the project about beauty, I’ve considered this new really appropriated to talk about.

First of all I could say that there is no need to use animals for human whims, and I think it’s a very selfish behavior. So, if we are infatuated with something, we can’t hurt other living beings. This only strengthen the idea that humanity is killing the same world that has given life to us.

And in the other hand, I don’t understand why people continues to dream on an infinity beauty. Why they don’t accept that ageing is unavoidable and it take a part in the course of a lifetime. They must be worried to enhance as a person and be gentle and pleasant with those who loves them, because, at the end, you can be really beauty and youth but if you are alone, you still being nothing. Maybe, be nobody is the worst thing can happen to anyone.

18 MILION VOTERS CAST BALLOTS THIS ELECTION DESPITE BELIVING THAT NEITHER DONALD TRUMP NOR HILARY CLINTON WERE QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT

Last Tuesday, 8th of November 2016 habitants of USA were willing to vote who would be in charge of the first world power.
Some of them took a chance on Hilary Clinton, while other opted Donald Trump, a xenophobic, chauvinist man. The voters who were undecided until the last minute ended up voting Trump.
A research by CNN suggests that id these voters decided not to vote, then Hillary Clinton would have won with a landslide victory of 53% to Trump’s 44%.
Clinton’s had the worst turnout among white working-class voters from the outset of the elections: just 28% of white working class voters opted for Clinton.
Exit polls results indicate the electorate were influenced by continual negative attacks between one and the other political parties.
Clinton becoming the nation’s first female president was a novelty, so even if she defended women role, she only got 54% of women votes. Among men, her performance was even worse at 41%, the worst by any democrat since 2002.
In contrast, Trump has achieved the highest vote since 2000 among white evangelicals reaching 81% of people who lives in this country.

It came as a surprise to see how a xenophobic, chauvinist man won the USA elections. The country who has been presented as a democratic equal and ombudsman one has been shown to be the same or worse than countries that has been judge for delivering the mentioned adjectives.
It’s hard to accept how people still thinks like years ago and also to see, or this is what it seems to be, that the fight against racism and machismo has yielded very little.

So, in my opinion I have almost nothing to say, I just want to know that there is a little hope that Trump won’t remain in office for long time. I just hope that someone realizes that position of USA President is not occupied by the right person.

SUMMER JOB

We have started routine again, so we have already changed our chip.
In my case, I haven't changed it too much because this summer I've worked so hard in the Skydive Empuriabrava bar and it wasn't easy work.
You must be fast and on the ball every single minute because it is a place where people go often in their summer holidays.
There was a lot of people and even if you felt stressed you had to be kind with every single client, You must have a good actitude and accept the client is right.
Taking into consideration the work I spent doing last summer, in the reception of Hotel Port Salins, I could say that I've enjoyed working in Skydive more, being always occupied and I've met some extraordinary peopl. I love the atmosphere at this place and I would like to spend more time there, maybe doing some skydives.

Focusing on the work, I've learnt a lot of things because I had to cook also. So now I know how to cook some kinds of foods; how to cut them, to present them... and it is not just about material things.
I have shared lovely moments with my work mates, I have learnt about working as a team, for example spend a little bit more time at work beacuse your partner feels sick, trying to distribute your tasks in order to finish them earlier, put your complaints in common and discuss them with work colleagues, etc.

So, at the end, I can say I feel great to have been working there even if it wasn't an easy job. And, of course, there is no doubt that I prefer to work in Skydive than in Hotel Port Salins.

THE MECHANIC WHO LOST THREE LIMBS WAS GIVEN A BIONIC ARM

As he was working in a mechanics workshop, he started to feel sick. Firstly he thought he had the flu, but he was immediately taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he had both legs and his right hand amputated.
Doctors diagnosed him sepsis (or blood poisoning) and he was put in an induced coma.
Thanks to his workmates, who collected £27,000 in almost one week, he was given a bionic arm, which has individual motors in each finger allowing a grip movement and with microprocessors which control the position of each finger. It is going to let him have his independence back.

On the one hand, it is evident this technological advance has a lot of astonishing things to offer, and one of them is the capacity to regain the movement or even more, the entire limb. And this is such a great step. The truth is that this progress has two faces: the misuse of technology or the unethical one, and the good one, which looks  forward to the future.
And on the other hand, the implicit message I can read in this article are the kind-hearted workmates and family that Mark Camamile has. They struggled to retrieve what their friend lost and not just physically. They didn’t give up and they  kept on doing everything they could to get the money to pay for the bionic arm.

ROY MOORE: ALABAMA TOP JUDGE OUSTED OVER GAY MARRIAGE STAND

Saturday, 01 of October 2016, Roy Moore, a top judge, has been suspended for twice to defy the federal court rulings that legalized same-sex marriage.

He has defended himself accusing radical homosexual and transgender groups who have counteract him in order to remove him of his Chief Justice of the Supreme Court place.

It is the second time he will be suspended. In 2003 he refused to take down a monument of the Ten Commandments. And this time he has shown his conservative mind that lead him to the impossibility of seek re-elected until the end of his term, in January 2019.

In my opinion there should be no place for this kind of overdue minds because all of us, our society, have been fighting for a long time to live with dignity and freedom, being absolutely the ownership of their decisions. Hence, we can’t permit those people lead us and give them a right to judge the society they are disagree with.

Our ancestors have come a long way and it has taken a long time. Enough to not give up nowadays and keep on walking in the same direction as they did years ago.

Finally, and focusing on the gay marriage, we can’t allow anyone to choose who we must love. We have to fall in love with this people who respect us regardless of their gender.

TED SPEECH

YOUR BODY LANGUAGES SHAPES WHO YOU ARE

This twenty minutes speech shows us how can you be uncovered with just looking at your body or, in contrast, how your body language can change your mind and your way to act.

Amy Cuddy has offer a speech which she begins with a little introduction asking for the attention of the audience who has to focus on their body position the next two minutes. Afterwards she goes on with an example for introduce her talk which will persist until the end. She talks about the position of power. Other scientists and she have been studying how people reacts in front of different situations and they have wrapped up that there’re two noticeable postures that transmits how powerful the person feels in that moment.

Amy Cuddy split this responses into powerful people, those who tend to optimise the space occupied by opening their arms or putting their legs on the table, or stretching their legs as much as they can, etc. The other kind of reaction was striking in feeble people. They close their arms, they are hunching, crossing their legs, wrapping their ankles: making themselves smaller.

Throughout a study that consists in submit people under pressure or in a threatening situation like job interviews, she comes to the conclusion that cortisol and testosterone are the gauges that correspond to those body postures. Testosterone increases and cortisol decreases in powerful people and the other way round in non-powerful ones.

Practically concluding Cuddy narrates a short personal story reminding the importance of overcoming and how you should struggle with your mind faking you feel comfortable and gain confidence with yourself as time moves forward and always think that if you are doing something it is because you were supposed to be there.

And finally she advices audience to adopt these powerful positions when we aren’t sure about feel strong enough or skilled enough, in one way or another faking our minds making them seem as though that we feel comfortable and sure with that situation.

First of all, I’ve found this speech interesting because it talks about attitudes we aren’t conscious we do, so it is always a good idea to investigate about some behaviours ruled by our unconscious mind.

I agree at all with the explanation she gave about how people adopt different postures depending on how they feel in this situation. Looking back, I confirm that I tend to cross my legs during an oral presentation, or wrap my arms, etc. because I don’t feel comfortable in this situation, I always think this isn’t my place and I try to go unnoticed as much as I can. But, however, when I spend time with my friends or at home (places where I feel absolutely comfortable, I tend to spread out and take up space, feeling sure with what I’m defending.

Making a reference to the other part of the speaking, the last one, I can’t corroborate the effectiveness to fake our minds. I’ve never tried it, and it’s something I should do. I’ll show a powerful and self-confident posture every time I don’t feel I should be there. I will believe in myself and maybe it can offer more relaxed and fluid sensations which I can transmit in my talks.

Some words I’ve learned in this speech are:
Awkward interaction: an interaction difficult to use, do, or deal with.
Sued: to take legal action against a person or organization, especially by making a legal claim for money because of some harm that they have caused you.
Cortisol: a hormone that is used in medicine to treat parts of the body that are swollen and painful.
Take a gamble on you: trust in you.
Whopping: extremely large.
Fake it: To make a pretense of knowledge, skill, etc.
Feeling sort of shut down: feel devastated.

I’ve chosen some Amy Cuddy quotes with which I agree:

“EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU HAS SOMETHING TO OFFER AND YOU HAVE THE RESPONIBILITY TO DISCOVER WHAT IT IS"

Dear Lourdes,
I’m Aina Vesa Martínez and I’m 17 years old. I live in Castelló d’Empúries and I was born in Figueres hospital.
Nowadays I’m a student from IES Castelló d’Empúries and I’m doing second of batxillerat in order to access to a university degree. Indeed, I’ve been a lucky person to the effect that I have always had a clear idea of what I would like to study in the future; my life goals are pretty set.

If we talk about this course goals I could say that I hope to earn good grades because I would like to get a scholarship to have a part of my studies paid and because it’s a hallmark of a good student. It also means that I would study whatever I am interested in and wherever I prefer.
I don’t really expect any challenge this course because I’ve been always putting pressure upon myself to get excellent marks, so maybe the only challenge I have to face is to keep up with my study rhythm and try not to drop in grades.

But if we refer to a broader meaning I’m convinced I have a long way to go plenty of challenges which I will try to overcome working hard with the strength of self-improvement and always counting on the unswerving support of my parents, my friends, my family and the teachers that once believe in me.

I would like to make a careful consideration about the sentence “Every single one of you has something to offer and you have the responsibility to discover what it is” said by President Obama. I’m in favour of multiple intelligences which means that everybody has different skills. It’s too complicated to know about everything and it’s not necessary either. Just focus on what you are good at and with what you feel comfortable and improve yourself spending time on whatever it is, in order to be the best, if not more, playing your part in that you’ve been working at. Maybe your contribution will be the grain of sand necessary to end the sandcastle.

Hence, refuse to give up and don’t listen to those who try to sink you, they haven’t found with what they are good at, so they don’t want to let you find your way.
Put your best effort and don’t let any opportunity scape because one of them belongs to you.

So, that's all. Hope to see you soon,
Good bye, Lourdes.

SKYDIVING

Taking advantage of what we are going to talk about during this term, dreams, I would like to start my blog with one point that appears in my bucket list.
I've been dreaming of skydiving and my desire has increased even more after work in Skydive Empuriabrava during all this summer.
For this reason I decided to make my dream come true and in 9th of September I jumped.
A part of point out how extraordinary has become this experience and, I would even go so far as saying that it was the best action I've done in my life, I would like to tell you how is the feeling of making your dreams come true.

I think it must be something usual in our life. I mean that we should take this kind of decisions most often because they transmit us happiness and we feel really great when we do them. And it isn't just about the sense of well-being of the moment but also how you change your way of acting in other kind of aspects, the way you face your problems, the desire of experience these feelings again…

It could sound a little bit "corny" but I'm not joking when I'm saying that you change your point of view. You are motivated and you want to do other fantastic things just because you feel really great. You feel fulfilled and it produces a sense which is priceless.

And finally, let me tell you that there's only one life to lead and you are the only one who has to enjoy it and work out for it to make it unique. Don't miss any opportunity, experience as much emotions as you can, and do what you really love, don't spend time doing what those things that add anything to your life but also make you feel grumpy.

I leave the video about how my skydiving experience was.
